Things have been a bit busy around here lately. A new baby in the house would be enough excitement for me, but we're lucky enough to have our youngest son, Alex, & his girlfriend visiting from California for a few days. I need to get a pic of them from my daughter, she got some cute ones of them together. Alex came back to pick up an old pick-up truck that his grandpa gave him. It's been sitting here for a long time & wasn't running too well, so he and his Dad had a lot of work to do to get it ready for the trip. I think it's kind of crazy to drive it from Michigan to California after it's been sitting so long and they haven't had a lot of time to test drive it, but they're sure it will make it. Alex just always figures things will work out & I think he has an angel on his shoulder because things usually work out for him. He gives me many gray hairs, but he always lands on his feet. Fingers are crossed & prayers will be said!
They've been bunking down in my sewing room, which has kind of bummed me out, I've wanted to go in there and make something about a dozen times in the last few days. I didn't realize I used the room so much until I couldn't use it.
I did make one thing recently that I really like. It's a Nappy Bag, an Amy Butler pattern and the outside is Amy Butler fabric. My daughter loves it, it's got lots of pockets & the outside is a heavier weight fabric so it's sturdy. It was pretty easy to make, and I think the pattern could be adapted to make an every day bag. As it is, it could be an every day bag, but it's pretty large. If I was making a bag for myself I'd round out the corners, but my daughter liked them the way they were.
I can see that I'll be making all sorts of baby things, everywhere I go now I see really cute things that I want to make for her. Especially this blog!
Our weather has been pretty crummy this week, we had a little bit of sun, but mostly gray skies and it's been pretty cold. My son's girlfriend has hardly ever traveled out of the San Francisco bay area, so I would have loved for her to see Michigan when it's beautiful. Right now is about the worst time of year as far as I'm concerned. Everything's brown & it's muddy and wet. She really wanted to see snow, but we don't have much left and what we have is dirty old snow with road gunk all over it. Alex wants to bring her back in the fall, so hopefully Michigan will have a chance to make a better impression.
